Is it your world? Is it simply twisted? Is it still yet a world that belongs to something else? Perhaps the shadows themselves have taken over that which you once knew to be true. Or perhaps you're just stark raving mad trying to decide now that your normal life can never again be what it was.
Arise! See for yourself what the world is around you once the veil of what you knew to be true is lifted.
World of Darkness is a gaming system brought you by White Wolf, allowing you to take the roles of anyone within the shades of this new outlook on reality. The Mage who awakens to the rush of new unforeseen knowledge, the Vampire who is embraced with gifts or perhaps curses to walk in the requiem, the Werewolf who is forsaken with his bloodline's dark secret, or even those who are not these. Those others who must accept and cannot deny this truth. This horror. This darkness.

Speaking from experience I actually recommend checking out some of WhiteWolf's other RPG's. Exalted is fantastic, probably the most interesting fantasy RPG I've played, if controlled properly by the right GM. Scion is an interesting concept too, sorta make characters based on mythology of various cultures.

I have played a little bit of Vampire: The Requiem and Werewolf: The Forsaken, the latter of which I'm currently playing in. The most fun I've had with WoD to date is with Hunter: The Vigil. Droz is running a game that we started out with seven players, and through turn of events and change of interest we've dwindled down to two, but I'm still having a blast with it. Wouldn't mind possibly trying some more Vampire. *wink wink nudge hint*

Hey guys, if a thread or topic isn't up you'd like to see I'd love to see a new thread about it. Would you like some new topic spaces? Slide me a PM and it shall be done. I listed a brief summary of the things I am most familiar with, but would love to see more too. If you've got the edge, bring us up to speed. I have heard Exalted was great, tell me more.

What about the Promethian that was created? Or the Giest. . .that I know absolutely nothing about lol. Geist's pretty neat. Haven't read too much into it (as I'm still in the process of doing so), but I'll explain it to the best of my current knowledge. You take on the role of a Sin-Eater, a person who has died or had a near death experience during which you are approached by a Ghost-Spirit-Minor-Death-God entity from the Underworld known as a Geist. This Geist offers you a bargain: it grants you a new lease on life and you allow it to become a part of your being. Accepting the Bargain, you can now see dead people...all the time and have access to a wide range of strange abilities.

Probably because Twilight ruined vampires at some point for him.
I've been reading up on Giest, along with what Rock mentioned. Along with your powers it seems that you are suppose to have a purpose; finish unfinished business, help out the ghosts, keep balance. Guess it just depends on the type of Giest you are.
Promethean was explained to me as Pinocchio, the goal is to become a real boy. Haven't gotten a chance to read the book yet, but the guys who gave me the info about it are usually on point with that kinda stuff

I have been bending my brain over this for a long time now, and I really want to try to make a change.
In World of Darkness games, time is broken down into Chronicle/Story, Chapter, Scene, and Turn increments. I struggle heavily with breaking my D&D habits of free form sandboxing, and really want to focus on making it easier to concentrate on the breakdowns here.
In WoD it feels like a television show, where we storyboard "possible" action, and then roll camera and see what happens with improv actors. What are some good techniques to make this work? I know the book tried to explain it, and I grasp the concept, I just can't seem to feed it to my players the same way.
So far the story feels like, "here you are, where do you go? What do you do?" which doesn't feel wrong, but it feels unorganized.
I'm looking more for something more like how the system describes.
Both players and non-players of my Hunter game, please help. I want upcoming games to supercede the current "bar".

(Found this by accident when looking for story hooks...its campy, but kinda fun.)
I must've met a thousand dreams heard many an unseelie's screams But I can hear the commoner's feet They're marching into the street.
Now did you read our news today They say the glamour's gone away But I can see balefire's still alight There burning into the night.
There's too many players Too many prodigals Making too many problems And not much game to go round Can't you see This is a game of confusion.
This is the World of Darkness From Dallas on up to Loch Ness So roll up and let's start trying To make it a setting worth gaming in.
(WOLF) Ooh Fenris where are you now When everything's gone wyrm somehow The nets of steel, the tainted power Are gaining control by the hour.
This is the crime This is the caern So we fight for the future But there's plenty or Rage to go round Let's see why, this is a land of the weaver.
This is the World of Darkness From Dallas on up to Loch Ness So roll up and let's start trying To make it a setting worth gaming in.
(VAMP) I remember long ago - Ooh when the sun was shining Yes and the stars were bright All through the night And the sound of your laughter As I held you tight So long ago -
But now my home is in the night My generation has lost its might We're all just making promises That we know, we'll never keep.
There's too many players Too many prodigals Making too many problems And not much game to go round Can't you see This is a game of confusion.
This is the World of Darkness From Dallas on up to Loch Ness So roll up and let's start trying To make it a setting worth gaming in.
This is the World we're gamin' And these are the stats we're given Roll up and let's start playin' Just what our character's are going to do.
