What was your childhood addiction that you absolutely couldn't pass up when you went to the arcade? Pac-Man? Burger Time? Galaga? About how much money do you think you sank into those poor machines?
I think my most addictive game was Gauntlet. I didn't really start playing it until my brother was old enough to play with me in the arcade, and we made a pretty awesome team. Too bad we didn't know about saving our games on the arcade machines. We blew $5-$10 each time in about 15-20 minutes easily, but usually didn't get past the first few levels since we always started over.
Other than that, we would match up on the Soul Calibur. He usually picked Nightmare, and I had Xia Xiu (I think that's her name) or Ivy.
When I was younger, I can remember playing Primal Rage at the roller skating rink. Not the best of games, in my opinion, but it was more than I had at home, so I played.
Other than that, I think the pinball machines got the rest of my attention.

Air Hockey! And to this day (is the table is up to my standards) I will take all challengers.
I was never great, but always had a lot fo fun playing. I got hooked on Mortal Kombat, Gauntlet, and Time Crisis.
The first Arcade Game I can remember had a Nintendo Collection on it. It was at a campground we stayed at on my family's first vacation in Florida. (wow, can't believe I remember this!) I think I was maybe 7 years old, and the machine had Super Mario 3, Fester's Quest, Castlevania III, and a few others that never quite caughtmy attention.
My Uncle Rob owns an original Donkey Kong arcade machine...that's just awesome!
