Here is a list of anime that has I have drawn inspiration from.
Cowboy Bebop- This is a anime that great on so many levels, if you haven't seen it yet you should watch it as soon as possible.
Gurren Lagann-IMO the best mech anime out there, it doesn't take itself seriously and is funny as all hell.
Full Metal Alchemist- A great series, its the what if technology was replaced by something else and time moved forward. While the Manga and Anime are different its worth looking into.
Akria, Vampire hunter D, Project A-ko, Tank Police, Demon City, Battle of the Planets, Ranma 1/2, Tenchi Muyo all great classic animes
I could go on but i wanna see what you guys like

Well guys after the holidays are over its time to plan for a Con that is in July this year. I am talking about Otakun.
This will be my 3rd year going, and like many things sharing it with friends is so much more fun. For those you guys wanting to go with me and the group I go with just call my cell. If you don't have my cell then well, I don't know you well enough to take you.
We will be getting the hotel rooms in February at the latest, and then the tickets will be pre order , still working on numbers. This year I am in charge of everything, so all question directed my way please.
Rock and Atlantis I know you guys are joining us this year, and this is just a reminder that I want things done early so as not to stress for last min things

To those whisinh to join us this year with the trip to otukan here is a heads up. On the 6th at 3ish we will be meeting at denny's to figure out the plans for the trip. Leah and myself are incharge this year. So if you are not there the 6 and don't either of know anything we are nor including you in the plans, we just lost a good deal cause some people can't respond. So either call me, or send a message if you want to go but can't make it cause otherwise you are on your own. Harsh, yes. But we are organizing a fair sized group this year

some other, older anime- gundam- the original was honestly bad, but thats what happens from the era it came from gundam wing- coolest of the gundams, in my opinion astro boy- the progenitus of anime naruto- ok, ok, some of it was lame. but it still was kinda cool dragonball/z/gt- ugh. only cuz it has/had one of the alltime biggest cults around its shows negima- its about an 11yr old wizard teaching at an all-girl highschool. you figure it out. shaman king- i dunno, it caught my eye. thats about it. ZOIDS- coolest anime. 5/5, if you like giant robots.
i cant think anymore... too much thought goin to dnd. later.

Cowboy Bebop - I'm sorry, but THAT is the best anime ever. Outlaw Star - Kinda goofy, but still worth watching. Full Metal Alchemist - The manga was best, but it was really good. Death Note - Very good and thought provoking. Liar Game - A manga only, but I still count it as excellent.

Zoids better the Cowboy bebop???, in a universe where Keanu Reeves can act!! As far as a Mech series went its was bland, Gurren Lagann and Neon Genesis Evangelin are better mech series (IMO). Gundam is the mech series everyone knows, and depending on your tastes really shows which series you will like, Gundam Stardust was a better version but it was also a darker series in the Gundam family.
I have not seen a Zoids character while at Otukan, but I did many other characters. That is a poor way to say "hey this is a better anime" since everyone enjoys there shows.
But as a Cowboy bebop fan I will not stand for any slander towards on of the best anime of all time. And saying Zoids is better is slander.
Shame on you, SHAME!!!

No slander allowed?
LOL that's just provoking us to pick it apart.
And while I agree that its a very good anime...this is also based on the fact that I've seen maybe a grand total of maybe 5 different ones, and even most of those not to completion.
I found that two out of three episodes were absolute hits, and then they try for humor and miss the mark hard. However, again that's my opinion, and based upon what I find funny. I think they did do a good job of making their comic relief character useful (thank goodness!) for a change...cause I HATE a useless "funny" character.
I think the build up has just the right pacing to not let me quite fall asleep, just in time for a perfect mix of action sequences and teamwork when possible.

SHAME!!!!
A good series will stand the test of time, regardless of what your definition of good is. Bebop still has fans out there that love the series (as they should).
While there are many good anime/manga out there, there is also a lot of bad series. So finding what you like can be rough. So tell 4kids to stop ruining series, and give the rights to MANGA, or VIZ, or PIONEER so that the series is not ruined through bad voice acting and translation.

absolutely agree with that last part. ive found that my tastes (in anime, but not just limited to that subject) can be really out there, as most of my friends have found.
i personally got bored with bebop at times, but i still absolutely give it a 5/5 in all topic categories. i have been moving away from gundams in general, but i like you say, a good series will stand the test of time (with the exception of dragonball/z/gt/ ugh, why is it still around?)
also, with zoids, im referring to the shows other than new century zero (the one with liger zero and the team of fighters, in judged combats) that was NOT a great anime, and was one of the most boring in my mind. i liked chaotic century and genisis. if you havent watched genisis, its prolly cuz it wasnt realeased in the united states.
i have just recently started watching Gurren Lagann (as of this post its still loading on my pc) so ill get back to you on that one.
i have to admit though, its gonna be hard to beat zoids in my mind. being raised on zoids, megaman, and transformers, its hard to beat any of those.
