So you and your partner hear some static over the scanner. Something about a disturbance at a nearby gas station. Hmm, weird.
Oh well, one more stop to pick up the deposit cash from a 24/7 choke and puke, and Emmett and Randall are on the way to drop of the armored truck, and punch the clock to go home.
On the way there, some kid is just standing in the street. Drunk most likely and stupid looking, he just looks on as the headlights flood him. The boys make a nice wide birth as they steer around the idiot, and joke a little about how annoying it is to work in little college towns.
Again the scanner chirps with the station disturbance. "Police on the scene, requesting backup to 962, Sherman Rd, possible hostage situation."
Arriving at their home office they see a rather unnerving scene. Two of their co-workers at their own respective truck are shambling slowly into the back of it, when the door slides down, slamming onto and breaking the leg of one, twisting it horribly, as the other standing outside is caught in headlights much like the kid in the street before.
As Emmett and Randall deliberate what's going on and what to do, the scanner pipes again "employee at 962 Sherman has been assaulted, moving in to make arrest, backup is requested immediately!"
The pair exchange a puzzled look, then both look up as they hear the footsteps draw closer. The figure that was once a buddy is decidedly not who he once was, but is stricken by something they could only guess must be horrific if true.
The walking dead!?
Emmett hits the gas, steering close and opens his door to slam into the body as they pass, knocking the figure down hard. It's still moving, slowly rising in the mirror as Randy simply shakes his head in disbelief. Gunning it now, they tear out of the lot again, and back on the road toward the police call which still has yet to hear a radio reply.
Back to the station, to the only other voice who seemed to be at least clued in on what's going on. To see if their conclusion could really be possible, in hopes that an ally was still possible at their destination.
