These new crazy cartoons have become more stoner like over the years. I'd probably enjoy the more if I was on drugs. . . Attachments:

Funny, coming from a person that loved to watch Rocco's Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy.
Honestly you should have seen this coming when Sponge bob became popular (for whatever reason).
It seems like with many things now (Video Games, Movies, Books) why make something that is great when good or decent sells just as well.
And yes trying something at least once is OK, getting hooked is not.

Ya, your right about the Ren & Stimpy (Rocco's modern life was not really a big interest for me except that we had our own Rocko). This Adventure Time is pretty random. It's like it took Family Guy, Sponge Bob, Ren & Stimpy, and D&D and placed them in a blender. Alone the stuff is fine but together it's like drinking Rum, Whiskey, and Tabasco shot.

I think this is just more of people who don't have actual talent being given a chance and being able to make as much money as people who do have talent. I may be biased, but it's sort of similar to *most* modern art. There are centuries of works of art by great classical painters, sculptors and artists. Nowadays, if you can slap some play-dough together with a few hunks of metal, splatter some paint on a piece of toilet paper, or dig an old can out of your neighbor's trash and call it art, your "masterpieces" are suddenly worth billions of dollars. *There is some modern art that actually takes skill and creativity to make. These are a few select pieces however, at least in my opinion.
The same translates here. Imagine the people who are drawing these things applying for jobs to work as animators at Disney. Not being a big fan of anime, I must say that nearly any sort of anime I've ever laid eyes on still looks 100x better than this crap. And I haven't even gotten to the writers! You no longer need interesting storylines or even mildly dynamic characters. Just record last night's potfest and plug in lines that made you guys laugh the most. Then you add in some half-a$$ed animation of something that could resemble a person, maybe, sorta, if you squint real hard and stand on your head and do the hokey-pokey. And if you can't draw people, or anything resembling anything at all really, it's okay. Just draw a blob and make it kind of move once in a while. And people love this $hit! And what's worse is that it's attracting younger and younger audiences, mostly because the parents don't monitor or really care what their children are watching... but that's a rant for another topic, most of which we've all heard before.
It is for this reason that when anyone decides to "pick on me" for a being a Disney fan, at least I stand behind something that can be considered good quality. Most of the stories were changed from the original fairy tales and folklore, yes, but that's because most of those stories were scary/creepy as hell!! But they managed to create something entertaining for whole families that didn't melt their little minds with somebody's acid trip gone wrong. Should all of life be a song and dance? Probably not. But a couple parts here and there wouldn't hurt. We've got enough other entertainment material to cover the rest of life's aspects.

I will say this about the "stoner" animation and Disney, neither is original. Honestly the first "stoner" like cartoon would have been Ren and Stimpy, though I am sure that probably was some unheard of cartoon before that. Disney has a knack for stealing other stories and redoing them to make money, the Lion King being the perfect example (stolen directly from Kimba the White Lion). Now mind you I love a lot of the old Disney classics, but I realize every story was done by someone else before.
Its hard to find decent cartoons/animation that has story and decent quality The most recent that I have had time to watch would have been Avatar the last Air bender. It had a main story line, some sub plots, and most important a ending. Things like Sponge bob, The Incredible Mister Bee, Chowder, and Flapjack are things I wish would go away and never come back.
But then again what we are complaining about with these cartoons can and should be directly transfer to many of today's TV series. Like most of what MTV now puts out (Lord I remember when there used to be music on MTV, not pretty white kids with problems shows).

I don't blame the media... I can't. They only produce shows to hope for ratings, so you gotta figure, for every dumb show you see that has had more than one season, there's about 50-75 million or so people watching it as you turn to find something interesting. A staggering comparable number just turn on "that cartoon" (Family Guy, Sponge Bob, Squidbillies, etc.) to keep their kids busy so they don't have to.
Parents and caregivers alike need to someday understand that a television with cable is not a babysitter. Then the shows will be more moderated and better written and so on...oh yeah and as a side effect, we have smarter, more interesting kids in the world that don't grow up to just drink/smoke their brains away and be obnoxious.
