It's odd how my mind works. We were discussing steampunk on facebook and within a minute this popped into my head. So here we go
Anyone interested in a collaborative story in which we take turns writing chapters and see where it goes? I have seen this turn out great and I've seen train wrecks made. Worth a shot though. If you would like to participate just reply below and we'll start hashing something out and vote for who gets to start it off and set the tone.
The more people the more fun this could be
Also reply with your idea for the story premise and a basic character that could be adapted for a wide range of stories. I think maybe the characters should adopt our own to see what others do with them. Be brutally honest using your good points and bad.
Premise: a world much like our own but with one key thing changed and life must adapt to it. (For instance steampunk has the premise of coal power being introduced before it's time). We could vote on what has changed but the example I'll toss out is that a small portion of the population is born with a defect that causes their skin to appear like green scales. The story follows a group looking for the origin of the defect (lizard people or dragons float to mind)
Character: an apathetic and intelligent man who despite his charming deadpan sense of humor has a hard time sympathizing and relating to others. People accuse him of being emotionless when really he strives to use logic and cold reasoning instead of responding to his emotions which he has always struggled to convey anyway.
