Chapters of the Rising Moon and Setting Sun
It was mere moments later that the suddenly-appearing messenger was given an answer and sent on his way. The battle raged on, with the two rival clans fighting viciously in the valley. One of the nobles of Deo's army glanced up at the ridge to their north, certain he saw something. It was something, and he peered at the blurry images coming into view on the horizon. Soldiers, he was certain of it. But who had ordered them? He could not see the armbands of his lord, nor those of their enemy. What was this occurance? In answer, he soon saw a green flag join the troops, bearing in blue and black the emblem of a cobra, coiled and poised to strike. The troops charged down the hill after unloading a volley of musket fire and the odd crossbow bolt, rushing straight into Deo's flanks. As the noble turned to ride back towards his lord for a message, he was stunned to see riders coming in to their rear. They had been flanked and struck at the rear by this new army! He cursed his luck and reloaded his pistol. They would not give up so easily...
Meanwhile, at the top of the ridge, a man in a flowing green and brown robe stared down into the battle, his hand resting on the pommel of a katana safely stowed in a belt that also carried a finely made pistol. He nodded approvingly, and watched the melee rage.

[haha, ok. i remember trance as basically they stayed semi-aware of their surroundings even when asleep, so if something moved or made a noise they where aware of it, but kk]
unless provoked, Xen is rather calm and unlike an assassin. keeps almost entirely to himself, except for necessities. has a habit of tossing a test tube-like vail of dark blue liquid up and down, catching it and twirling it in his hand. spends alot of time resting, but is a very light sleeper and even the slightest noise wakes him. spends large quantities of time outdoors, even in the rain or snow. likes sitting on rooftops where people cant reach him.

Of Greed and Kings
The doors to the bed chamber were quickly pushed open, two knights burst in and eyed the Dark Creature. Not a moment later, a boy, maybe of 20 winters, walked into the room. . . The Prince.
"Ah. . . Your must be father's new play thing. . . A Dark Elf, so I am told. . . Your people are rumored to be more feared then my father! I must say, you don't look all that scary! Come, Dark one, speak your name for your Prince!"
The cocky youth eyed the dark elf, his gaze oozing with arrogance.
Mean while, at the Army camp, just outside the city's walls. Sargent Sorlis sat at the large wooden table. The other soldiers began to bicker. . . The bar fight that was held last night was a mess. . . Half a tavern burnt down and many a witness questioned. . . Two dead bodies and a third unable to speak. . . Oh he knew he was in a world of Hurt for the weakened.
The Dark Chapters General Kelissith slammed his fist on the table, letting the dark oak resound through the captured human hall. "WHAT?! The lowly creature wants me to introduce the lady?! How on Helod's Dark Soil am I to find a willing noble for this?!!!" The general quickly rose, his dark cape trailing behind him. Tzats, his Calvary commander, eyed his master with cruel eyes. With a low voice, more akin to a hiss, Tzats spoke. "Sir. . . We could always have Commander Anethra go. Heh, last I remember, she has not been wed." The General scoffed, his head thrown back, leaving his dark hair to trail behind. "That bitch can barely follow an order, let alone present herself as a diplomatic bride. Go find some other noble, I will present this to Anethra, but I doubt this would go in our favor. There is bound to be some whore of the court willing to do good for "King and country."" Tzats smirked and gave a nod of respect before leaving. He had a mission. . . Two of them.
Chapters of the Rising moon and setting Sun.
Noblemen Fernan stood, watching the cannons roar to life. Not only had he and his new allies defeated the army in rolling hills, they had pushed him back to the castle of his enemy. This, however, proved to be Fernan's problem. . . A siege could take days, months, or even years. . . Looking to his new Ally, he smirked. "How would take this. . . Rag tag castle down?"
The castle loomed like a giant shadow over the army down below. The ring of muskets and the twang of crossbows and arrows filled the air. It was clearly a fortress meant for battle. . . One that looked like it could hold against such an attack for years.
Strong Seas, and Stronger women.
The Red haired Half Elf frowned, turned away by every business in town nearly. Most of all, she got turned away by that damn Codger and his Machine workshop. She could not help but feel angry. . . After all, it was her suppose to be her day off.
The woman looked down at the gutter, perched just above on the sidewalk. She couldn't help but run everything over in her head. Dead deck hand, law against her currently, no safe house, and she hadn't been paid by the noble yet. . . She needed a safe way out. . . And she saw it.
Stepping out of the last business she checked, was a servant and a host of guards. . . They were leaving Master Steel's Machine shop, the most famous shop in the Federation. . . Putting two and two together, she knew this had to be important. . . With a quick dash and a day of stealth, she was able to finally smuggle her way off the island.

Strong Seas, and Stronger women. The crate was small, but thankfully, she was small enough. The trip was bouncy, salty, and smooth. . . but she hated it the whole way. It was not long before she found the group resting from village to village. It was finally, at the city of Pontik, that she escaped the crate and stealth ed away from the camp of Guards and the Servant. The big City of Pontik called her, how could she resist?

The Dark Chapters
Her boot heels clicked as she walked down the long onyx hallway. The floor reflected the glint of her jagged-edged daggers swaying on either hip. If the humans could do nothing else, they were superb at shining the floors. Finally, the large black oaken double doors loomed before her, behind which waited General Kelissith. She mentally allowed herself a long calming breath, although physically her face was as cold and unreadable as granite. The small human female who knelt at the door quickly stood on shaky knees and pushed the left door open. Keeping her face hidden, the slave announced in broken elvish, "His- Her Lady Advisor Rolan- Rilar- Rilynvirr to see me- you, My Lord."
The elf brushed past the babbling slave without so much as a glance, walking all the way up to the head of the table to bow respectfully at the general's side. Her hands rested on the hilts of her daggers as if they were a natural extension of her body. "You wished to see me, General Kelissith?"
He smiled at the woman and motioned for her to sit in one of the tall carved chairs. The door closed with a soft thud as the slave pulled it shut, happy to be out of line of sight for a few minutes. The dark elf woman sat easily, yet carefully, somehow managing not to carve up the furniture with her blades. "Anethra, thank you for being so prompt to my summons. Would you care for some wine? To toast to our victory in Tor'ilith?"
She was ready to decline the offer until he offered it as a toast. Much as she hated such frivolities, she knew many who would take it as a most personal offense to refuse a simple celebratory gesture. In a polite tone that was still absent a smile, "As you wish."
Kelissith rang a small bell and the sound of bare feet scurrying away echoed softly down the hall.
"So General, is there something else you wished to discuss with me?"
"Straight to business, hm? Very well. I have a very important assignment for you and your men. Quite simply, the number of slaves for the palace is dwindling and we need you to replenish them. With the recent conquest of Tor'ilith, I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding adequate stock."
Anethra withheld her internal rage at such an assignment. "With all due respect, sir, The Black Hand are not slave traders, nor a group of hapless bodyguards for such men. Surely our skills are better used elsewhere." Her voice was even but the fire could not be hidden from her eyes.
In just as even a tone, but with a smug smirk twisting his face, "After the stunt you and the Hand pulled at Nari'tyl, you should count yourself extremely blessed that you haven't been sent to the beds and cooking pots of the regular infantrymen." His smile grew as he watched her seethe in respectful silence. "If I were you, I'd take this as an opportunity to redeem yourself, as well as the rest of your fighters. Capability and skill will mean nothing if you cannot learn follow a simple order."
Her fingers stroked the handles of her daggers, the only outward sign she gave of her disgust. "When would you like us to leave for Tor'ilith?"
"By all means, let your men enjoy their celebrations tonight. Dawn will come soon enough."
She couldn't stand being in the room with him a moment longer. Rude or not, she stood, gave another short, respectful bow and turned on her heel, her long legs carrying her to the door quickly. The same female slave appeared in the open doorway with a bottle of wine and two goblets just as she reached it. The trembling girl kept her eyes lowered but that wouldn't save her today. Needing to unleash her anger in some way, Anethra seized the girl's face in her hand, her sharp nails digging into the slave's sunken cheeks. She forced the girl to look into her eyes and with a voice as venomous as a cobra, "Never again will your wretched tongue defile our words."
The general's laughter mixing with the girl's garbled shrieks of horrific pain echoed after her down the long hallway. Anethra didn't even bother to wipe the blood from her fingers, letting it drip on the floor that reflected her still spotless blades.

The Dark Chapters
Just as Anethra pushed the doors open to leave, Bokiz the Brute, stomped in. He sneered at her quickly before turning his attention to the office of The General. The Brute, and his armor, clanked and stomped down the hall till he reached the office. The doors were quickly slammed shut by Bokiz after he gave a strong kick to the gurgling Slave, pushing her out the door.
Loud shouting soon echoed out of the office but Anethra's attention was quickly broken by Tzat's looming shadow. Anethra could not help but feel, Tzat was waiting in the shadows for her, all along.
Tzat's spoke, flattery hung on every word. "Why hello my Dark lady. I had not imagined you would show your hide outside of the Tent. I am happy you could grace us all. . . Call this a blunt question. . . But what is your view on. . . Marriage?"

Of Greed and Kings
(after looking at the prince for a second, i smile and stand up)
"Ah, the prince. I had heard you where as arrogant as your father, but i thought it just heresay. I'll indulge you- this time. My name is Xen. I am no plaything. I use your father's petty wants to fill my coffers with gold. Unless, of course, you have a better job for me?"

Of Greed and Kings
The prince quickly chuckled, holding his right hand to his mouth. "OH my. . . Such a sparky dark creature. I hope the rest of your kind are as . . . deranged! HAH!"
The prince walked around the room, pushing aside books and chairs as he saw fit. Finally he looked up and smiled. "I know what Father has planned for you. . . I must say, it is a clever idea. . . But one that hurts me. . . Unlike father, I am close with the nobles of Both Kingdoms. . . I even wish to marry a girl from Foltuk. A strong Political union, joined together by my FUTURE ARMY, and I could rule both kingdoms with little to no blood shed. Father, the brute, wants to smash and take. . . No, no, no. . . There are always better ways. . . If you think you are up to it. . . When you are carrying out father's wishes, I will show up as well. . . I will be parading around, as a sign of good will to the people of Foltuk. . . I will see your "acts" being committed and I will save the before mentioned girl. Princess Delena. With the blessing of the remaining court, and her being the only one with noble claim to the throne of Foltuk, I could become the King of Foltuk and the King of Pontik. . . Once my father is gone, of course. Hehe."

Of Greed and Kings
"well... this is an interesting proposition... and doesnt confict with any of my current contracts." I say, rubbing my chin and looking at him. "I am certainly unapposed.... for a price. You are requesting me guarantee the life of this woman, this Princess Delena, to not be taken. I can certainly do this. however, i wish for payment. You must already be expecting that, however. I do, however, see a scenario developing for mutual gain between you and I." I say, smiling like the devil. "I guess my only real question is this: how much is this future of yours worth to you?" I rest back in my chair, smiling and looking at the prince.

The Dark Chapters
Anethra practically snarled at the man, feeling no need to mask her anger from a ranked equal. "I'm in no mood for your games, Tzat, and I've no doubt you already know the reason. So just be painfully blunt and get to the point." She walked right past him, not even stopping to hear his proposition. Letting her rage drive her footsteps was the only thing keeping her from adding any more blood to her hands tonight.

Of Greed and Kings
The prince smirked, nodding to his guard, they quickly left the room, shutting the door. Drawing a pistole, the prince sat down at the table. "For protection, not a threat, master Elf, keep at ease."
The prince, after looking around the room for a minute or two, eyed the elf. The prince held a smile that only a Demon could match. "Oh, when I am king, and ruler of all of Helod. . . I will grant you anything in my power. For now, gold will do. Will you accept that?"
The Dark Chapters
Tzats grinned, keeping up with her. "OH, there is a man, in the far off lands of the Federation... The country known for their mastery of magic and steel. . . He is the inventor of the great war machines, the golems we saw guarding Tor'ilith's King's chamber. Dumb machines, when controlled by a human, but with our dark magics! OH such a great thing to be. You and I could go far with this. . . All it requires. . . Is a deal be sealed with this human. . . Your better with Humans than I, as well as you hold a lacking of parts between your legs. . . He wishes to wed into our Nobility. Since the King has none close to him, we dogs of the Military are the closest things. Would you not agree?"

Of Greed and Kings
That sounds just fine, my prince" I say, laughing at the thought of him needing a pistol for protection. "Then, if i may name my price, we can seal this verbal deal. I want a title of high nobility and the grounds to go with it. Somewhere where the land is fertile but distant enough that you dont need deal with me.that way i can work at what i wish at my own leasure, and if you ever... require my 'services' again, you will know how to contact me. does this sound appropriate to you?"

Of Greed and Kings
The Prince nodded and waved his hand lightly.
"Easily done. Consider it done. . . Now. . . Just make sure it get done. . . We leave in two days.
The Prince qould then stand up, leaveing the Dark Elf behind in the room.
Sargent Sorlis, haveing had a rough day, questioned and questioned. Person to person, he still had yet to find out who was truly at fault for the bar fight. Talking to the local wenches and the camp followers, they all pointed to their own "villian". At times, they ratted out people who weren't even there. Sorlis knew this was going to be bad. . . It turns out, it was.
